Current Journey Maps of the 6 Personas

Over this week I assigned each of the user profiles given to us in class a task that I felt related to the information in their persona profile. I then sketched out what there current journey was and tested it our on my flatmates at home to see how easy they found it and any issues.

Persona 1 - Haiyan Zhang

Task - to find the article "Wellington's Trolley Buses to Continue as Uncertainty Remains Over Replacements" on her smart phone while she catches the bus to work.

This task was fairly straight foward because the article was a link on the Dominion Post home page.
The only action the user had to do was scroll down and select it.
  • I did notice that the title of the article was different on the home page than the title when the user clicks on the article which is confusing.
  • I also can't figure out how to get back to the Dominion Post home page once I have clicked on another article, it just seemed to take you back to the Stuff home page.

Persona 2 - Hemi Kamara

Task - to find the video section on his phone and watch the video "Dukes up over $50 fee".

When I set this task I was looking at the site from my laptop which has a video section, which is a great section for a user like Hemi because he needs fast infomation on the go so he can listen or half watch videos while doing other tasks.

The phone site doesn't have a video section so the user had to go to the menu on the top left corner, then select the sports section, then select the article from the Sport home page, which he could then watch the video which is embedded in the article.
There is a very small video icon next to the articles that have videos, but it would be useful if they have their own section.

When testing this out as home all my users found it fairly easy to find, but if Hemi just wants to update himself quickly, it isn't easy to find videos.

Again the title on the homepage was different to the article title, so confusing!!

Persona 3 - Mike Richards

Task - Find the article "Uni Fee Changes unfair" and post a comment on desk top.

This was the longest user journey of all and possibly the most confusing.
The user had to click on the National page, then the Politics page, then the article the user had to scroll right down the politics home page where the article was under "More Top Stories".
The user then had to scroll right down to the bottom of the article past "More from Stuff" and "Promoted Stories" where the comments were.
At the comments section there is a link to login, after that the user can post a comment.

Again the article titles were different. After exploring the site a little more I noticed a small tab at the top that sortcuts you straight down to the comments, but this was subtle, needs to be clearer.

Persona 4 - Sarah Blake
Task - Contribute an article through the Stuff Nation page on her laptop.

The hardest part of the journey was actually finding the stuff nation section from Dominion Post homepage. The user has to first go to the Stuff website, then Stuff Nation is on the header.  After that it is straight forward.

Persona 5 - Andrea Pazmandi

Task - Find the article "principled All Black Sandy Mc Nicol dies" and share it on Facebook using her phone.

On the phone website the easiet way to do this was to go to the sports section from the menu bar on the top left corner. From there the user had to scroll right down where the article was on the Sport homepage. After clicking on the article sharing it on Facebook was quick because there is a Facebook Icon right under the article title which redirects you to Facebook to share.

Persona 6 - Barry Down

Task - Find the latest New Zealand Politics news and save the story "Auditor General Questions Practices of Five Auckland Schools Over Fee and Donations" on his laptop.

The user had to go to the National section where the article was first up. After clicking on the article the user had to scroll right down to the bottom of the article where there is a tiny option to save the article if you're logged in. You can the re-access this article by going to the top right hand corner and clicking on your "profile" which has a folder of saved photos.
